Styleguide driven Frontend Workflow and Drupal Content Delivery

Styling Drupal pages is quite easy when adhering the Drupal way. Twig, Field Formatters and template suggestions are a solid foundation to design pages. But how to connect a non Drupal savvy design? Or: How to implement a application agnostic design? Is it even possible?

This talk will go through the lessons learned along the way of creating many Drupal pages of various sizes and demands. We will have a look at our workflow at WONDROUS LLC implementing frontend. Of course this workflow is opinionated, but will be based on a case study.

Starting with a living style guide (fractl style guide) lets go through the different obstacle we faced: getting the correct output (hooks vs. formaters), identifying useful html structures, bundling components and deciding when to skip design ideology. We look at the Drupal templating system, UI Patterns, living style guides, some small modules to improve content delivery and the future with GraphQL.

Bring some frontend knowledge to understand the basics of the Drupal theming layer. You will leave with a good templating overview. Challenging this workflow is highly welcome.
